I was raised in the church, but I learned early on that there is a massive difference between knowing about Jesus and encountering Him. As a teenager, I felt the Holy Spirit enter the room during worship and physically heal a life-long medical condition. That was my anchor.

But even with that anchor, I faced the "wilderness" of singleness. I knew the anxiety of wondering if God had forgotten me—if I would have to navigate this life alone. In 2010, God answered. During a service, a pastor "read my mail," speaking directly to the heartbreak I thought I was hiding.

"I felt an Angel of the Lord reach deep into the pit of my stomach. He pulled out the trauma and heartache like a weed from a well-maintained garden. Immediately, a cool, minty, refreshing sensation—like a fresh mouthwash—filled my throat and mouth. The weight was gone. The refreshing had begun."
